Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
We collect only information reasonably needed to send requested updates and respond to general website, volunteer, or presentation inquiries. We do not sell your information.
1. Who we are
Fluvanna Opposes Valley Link ("we," "us") is a nonpartisan, citizen-led group of Fluvanna County volunteers. This site, fluvannaopposesvalleylink.org, is operated by Fluvanna Opposes Valley Link. You can reach us at [email protected] or 3859 Hells Bend Rd, Palmyra, VA 22963.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, ZIP code or general area.
- Your choices: whether you want updates, want to volunteer, request a presentation, or share a professional skill.
- General questions, public sources and corrections: information you choose to provide through a form or email. Please do not send private property records or sensitive locations.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps) is processed by our hosting and security provider to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Aggregate analytics. We may use a privacy-friendly analytics service that counts visits without using advertising or tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy.
We do not use advertising pixels, and we do not build advertising profiles.
3. How we use it
- To send updates, meeting notices, SCC deadlines and ways to take part.
- To respond to general website questions, public-source or correction suggestions, volunteer offers, and presentation requests.
- To understand which pages help residents, so we can improve them.
- To keep the site secure and to comply with the law.
4. Information we do not accept
Please do not use our forms or email to send sensitive locations, private property records, or personal information that you do not want made public. This site provides general guidance and public sources; it does not accept, investigate, retain, or submit individual property files or sensitive-location reports.
Information you provide directly to a government body may become subject to public-records laws or be filed in a public case record. Consider asking that body how it will use information and whether it could become public.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may share it only with:
- Service providers that host the site, handle form submissions and deliver email, under terms that limit their use of your data.
- Authorized volunteers who need access to administer the update list or respond to general website, volunteer, or presentation inquiries.
- Others when the law requires it, or to protect people or property.
6. Email, calls and texts
If you join our list, we will email you about Valley Link. You can reply and ask us to remove you. If you give us a phone number, we may call or text about Valley Link, volunteer scheduling or events. Reply STOP to a text to opt out. Message and data rates may apply. We never require a phone number to join.
7. How long we keep it
We keep contact information while you remain on our list or for a reasonable period needed to handle a volunteer or presentation inquiry. We delete or anonymize it afterward, unless the law requires us to keep it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
8. Your choices and rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop receiving messages. Virginia residents may have additional rights under state law, and we will honor reasonable requests in line with the law. Contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity first.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Links and sharing
Our pages may link to other sites (for example, the SCC, PJM, news outlets, Facebook). When you use a "Share on Facebook" link, you leave our site and that company's policies apply. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date, and where changes are significant we will notify our list.
